Copenhagen. Again, we exchanged potted plants with people at their doorstep,
and invited them to participate in building up a collection of plants and
stories. In this case we used red geraniums, and focused the project in
the neighbourhood Amager in Copenhagen. Amager is a very diverse urban area.
It shifts between an urban and a suburban character with single-family houses,
apartment-blocks and terraced houses. Some of the topics in the conversations
were similar to the ones we had in Århus, but in new variations with
specific local stories. As in Århus we edited the conversations into
a small text for each plant. Here the plants filled the window-sills of
the exhibition-space and the stories formed a text-collage on the wall.
We also presented a book with the collection from the first version and
again also this second collection was documented. The photos and the texts
based on the conversations now constitute the collection Window-Sill and
with this material we developed several projects for different situations.
The “Window-Sill” project now consists of a multiple/ printed
matter, a series of signs for a public park, a book with the full collection,
a series of photographs and a DVD.
