PRECIOUS THINGS THAT COME OUT OF THE GROUND

2017

Steel, Brass, inkjet print, photo copies, linoleum and wood
variable dimensions

The 3-dimensional collage Precious Things That Come Out of the Ground is a collection of materials temporarily organised on a tabletop of bulletin board. The maps, cutouts and paper objects relate to the assyrian site Nimrud in Northern Iraq and the looting and destruction of ancient artifacts that have taken place here in recent years.
It is the first part of an ongoing series of installations and to be understood more as a conceptual than as an actual model for following installations.

The research for this project was funded by The Arts and Culture Division of the Federal Chancellery of Austria
